Hi ..im running wings plat 4 hdav on my own servers, details as follows:

intel xeon 2.00ghz quad
supermicro server board
2 X nvidia gtx 470 ****
8 gig ram
win 7 64 bit
western digital sata drives (caviar black)

BUT , my only problem is that the video tears (v-sync) i have tried changing the sync on wings, forced v-sync on the nvidia control panel etc etc etc etc.

it still does not solve the tearing . any idea? it seems to be tearing only on the secondary monitors , in my case 2, 3 & 4.
It does this in media player as well . there are many posts on many forums complaining about this problem.
Have you guys ever experienced this? do you have a solution?

any help will be appreciated

Hallo Clinton

Go to ATI. NVidia seem to have this Problem constantly. Therfore I am using ATI only. Mind you. I only use dualhead enviroments. Anything bigger than this is Master-Slave.

kind regards

We have one on order, and I'm informed it has two dual cards - nvidia cards too. Won't know more till it arrives.

I ahve tried both the nvidia and ati cards .. they do the same, what i have figured out ...is if you go into advanced system settings and you turn ON "adjust for best performance " ( which is recommended in the wings manual ) the tearing starts BUT if you turn ON "adjust for best appearence" the tearing stops???? This seems to be caused by a thing called AERO

do the media engines run a embedded version of windows? that does not have all these extra visual performance settings?

Thanks

Just had a chance to check out a Stumpfl-supplied Quad Media Engine delivered to Hong Kong with a Sony 4K projector.

The Quad Engine has 2 nVidia 280 or 285 cards in it plus a 3rd gfx card for the Wings interface (control program). Normal Windows 7 Ultimate, not Win7 embedded, plus Stumpfl's own GUI for easy access to the common features plus Wings of course, over-layed on top of Windows.

Running the Quad outputs to the Sony 4K which accepts 4 inputs and internally re-assembles the 4 inputs into one image in a 2x2 arrangement, there is video tearing between the 2 nvidia graphics cards. Tried various sync settings available in SWP4 but to no avail. The tearing is most apparent when the camera moves (left to right, vice versa, or up-down). A static camera with subject moving does not have tearing. The tearing consistently appears at the location where the 1st gfx card joins the 2nd (horizontal or vertical depending on how one configures the inputs to the Sony). Since the 2 gfx cards are not gen-locked, in my opinion, gen-locked gfx cards are required for the Sony 4K projector.

Additionally, between each gfx card's 2 outputs, there is an annoying shakiness between the 2 portions of the same image file with a fast camera pan left-right or vice versa, or up-down. I suppose one can call it video tearing also. As the camera's panning motion comes to a stop, the shakiness between the 2 outputs of each card stops also, as if they are now in sync again with each other.

The conclusion is that the Sony 4K projector and the factory-supplied Quad Media Engine do not perform well together at all. There was no chance to test with other projectors, or a horizontal 4-screen panoramic configuration.
