A first message from a die-hard platinum user from Holland.
German lesen is kein problem aber schreiben is swchieriger so i changed to Englisch :((
From the MPX program in the first nineties til platinum 4.00b fours days ago.
From tape wit the fostex 260 to Blu-ray discs... but that's the problem now.

I have a presentatioen without any video content, only pictures with nice animations ;)
with the control tracks.

When I generated the mp4 file with ausgabe/h.264/preset blu-ray disc main video it's
not a problem. I can watch the proces on the second screen and also the generated
*.mp4 file, no warnings or messages at all.(alle warnungen aktivieren aktiv)

Then the second step: I bought last weekend a blu-ray writer from LG BH08 delivered with authorisation
software (powerproducer from Cyberlink). When I try to add to mp4 files also no problem.
But when I do the preview, I have only the sound no pictures ? That's the problem.

When i do the generation from the mp4 file with the presets HD HDV or AVCHD, it's the same behaviour.
So maybe Cyberlink then the problem ?
I try it with de VLC player 0.9.8a but unfortunately the same results.

But what could be wrong ??
Settings, hidden checkboxes,decoders ????
I also try it with the checkbox video-grafikdaten nie verwenden uncheckhed.

Maybe anyone would help me a little bit further away.
Gerne antworden in German .. lesen und verstande is nicht meine problem :))

Strange? after more than a week no replies on my post ??
Nobody make's a Blu-ray disc then ??
I could believe that :)

Yesterday, I installed version c of Platinum, but unfortunately the same results :(((
I read in other threads also problems with mp4 files.
Maybe its the same reason'??

After some experience last week I made a WMV file (1920 * 1080) and this works on the blu-ray !
That's is funny, also platinum 3 have do the job then.

The software delivered by the Blu-ray burner is very smart then.
It' converted the WMV files to a blu-ray standard.
I tested with a cheap Blu-ray disc player from Philips (BDP 3000).
The quality is very good.

I wonder why what advantage's are from the h.264 file generation?
Better quality?
I hope, someone knows more about this problem

wie in einem anderen Thread festgestellt, gibt es anscheinend ein Problem mit dem H.264-Preset für Blu-ray. Stattdessen haben andere Anwender auch schon erfolgreich das Preset "HighProfile" eingesetzt. Damit würde ich es zunächst einmal probieren.
Der große Vorteil von H.264 ist, dass das Video für die Blu-ray Disk nicht noch einmal encodiert werden muss und somit kein Qualitätsverlust auftritt.

Wir haben inzwischen einen neuen H.264-Codec von MainConcept bekommen und heute in Wings Platinum 4 eingebaut. In den nächsten Tagen werden wir damit dann Tests durchführen.

You are not the only one here burning slide-shows on Blu-Ray disks.

While I present my shows using the EXE-Files and a (small) Personal Computer, I burn a Blu-Ray disks as an emergency precaution on a regular basis.

There are - at least - two ways to do it (as already discussed in this forum): you either use WP3 and export your project to a MPEG-2 file that any software able to burn Blu-Rays should be able to read properly. OR: You use WP4 (version 4.00c) to export your project as MP4-File using the H.264 "High profile". The resulting file can be read - at least - by Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere (both of them being able to burn Blu-Rays). These two methods did work fine at least with me. There might be other solutions as well.

It is surprising for me that you were successful in using the "Blu-Ray Disk (main video)" profile. This did not work for me.

You will find more information how I do it in the "Diashow auf eine Blu-Ray disk brennen" thread as far as MPEG-2 is concerned and in the "Probleme mit den Video Dateien einer EOS5MkII" thread as far as H.264 is concerned.

Maybe, it could be a good idea to try something different from your Cyberlink software. Good luck.

P.S. Your question relating to the advantages of the H.264 codec is a philosphic one: what is better, PC or Mac, Canon or Nikon, German Currywurst or Swiss Cervelat? In short: H.264 needs less bytes but more computer power. You can put more stuff on a Blu-Ray Disk - to bore your audience...

I try to make again a BD-disk with the high profile preset.
But the disk based on the WMV file is ok for me and also for the customer :)
Succes with the integration of the Mainconcept Codec.

I'm glad to hear that I not the only one to make Blu-rays :)

Maybe I write it not so cleary in the first post..sorry then.
When I used the "Blu-Ray Disk (main video)" profile the generation of a mp4 is not the problem.
But when I try to play the file with a mediaplayer isn't succesfully, also the import from the mp4 file with
the software which generated the Blu-ray disk don't accepted this file.

When I do the same with a WMV file it's no problem.
The (burn) software accept a lot of files so I think the workaround you suggest with the MPEG-2 files also works.
Also thanks for the information about the difference between the formats.
