Hello WP-users,

May I ask you a question?
I'm using WP 3.5 the last update. I'm using two screens by a Radeon X800 pro/GTO with a ATI Radeon Graphics processor 256 Mb.

The problem is that, when I have make the screen full by F5 (right screen), playing the show and I stop the show clicking the time line (left screen), the right screen go back to the small one. When I want to go to full screen I have to click F5 again. This is clumsy. On the same computer I have installed WP
2 and this software doesn't give any problem.
Some people says the problems comes by the video card, but I'm not sure about that, because WP 2 works fine.

An other question. When I want to use the keyframe-editor I go to Options>inscreen editing and place a checkmark next to Use keyframe editor for combined control tracks. This works fine until I close the program and start again WP 3.5. I have to checkmark it again in the Option menu. I think the checkmark must hold, even when I close the program. Am I right?

Hoping for solutions,
Regards,
Chris Karman

Hi Chris,

concerning the dual screen problem: I have no other similar feedbacks, but we will check that.

concerning the Options>inscreen editing: This is definitely a bug in Wings Platinum. I already corrected it in our internal version and the next official version won't have that bug anymore.

Best regards from Austria!

Hello Chris,

nice to meet you in the Forum.
Can you please check you settings regarding Extras/Options/project options/graphic display. Try to change the setting at "Fullscreenmode of Graphics Card".
Do you stop your show by hitting the Spacebar?

Hi Martin,
Good to be on the forum. Hope you can help me.
I've checked the settings you wrote. It was set in the mode Automatic configuration. Now I've uncheckmarked it and make the line Allow Full Screen Mode, but this don't give the solution.
I stop the show by hitting the Spacebar, clicking the stop or pause button in the toolbar or to going back in the time line by the cursor. Using all this possibilitys, when I click the cursor in the time line, that's moment the screen is going directly to the small position.
May be you can do something with this.
I'm waiting hopefully.
Regards,
Chris

Hello Chris,

your problem sounds quit wierd! Have you already tried a different graphics-Card driver?

Hi Martin,
Yes, I've downloaded and instal the newest driver and, I'm sorry about that, it give me no solution.
It is strange to know WP 2 works fine. But, sometimes I have to know that computers/software is a complicated combination. May be I have to work with this handicap.....
Thanks for the help of course.

Chris

Chris,

One of my Wings PCs has a X800 XL in it, AGP version. Using driver version 6.14.10.6512 dated 2/1/2005, it does not exhibit the problem you describe in WP3.5.
One thing to note is that the 'latest is not necessarily the greatest' so I would suggest you roll back to the driver you were using under WP2.x which did not give you the hassle you are having now.

It could be that since the X800 series is far older than the latest series of Radeon cards, the latest drivers may not be 101% agreeable with the X800 series especially when using specialist applications like Wings Platinum which are coded to make the GPU on the graphics card work overtime all the time. Therefore, once the parts in a system work together without problems, it is prudent not to 'fix what is not broken'. Difficult in these days of new versions and new toys, but food for thought nevertheless.
